WHAT IS OUR BAND WON’T BE YOUR LIFE?
Our Band Won’t be Your Life is a feature length documentary examining the collapse of the music industry during the early and mid 2000s. The film does this through the lens of Bill Zastera and the band Middlepicker as they tried to achieve artistic success in their medium, just as the road map to do that was collapsing around them. The film examines the persistence of the true artist through failure, and the pros and cons of that pursuit in a digital age. The film will be released at the South by Southwest film festival in the spring of 2020.
MY ROLE
I am the producer and co-director of Our Band Won’t beYour Life. I booked all interviews and ran sound and camera for all shoots. I am also the assistant editor and came up with the initial concept for the film. Below is a short teaser trailer for the film.
